Adams Opens 2018 Season With Win at East Bay
Kevin and Team BAR kicked off their 2018 racing season by making their annual trip to Florida to compete in the UMP Modified Winternationals. The 2018 season began with an early week test session in Lake City on Monday and then a practice session on Tuesday night at East Bay Raceway Park just outside of Tampa. The racing action officially began on Wednesday night with Kevin setting fast time in his group and then charging from the outside of the second row to win his heat race. After redrawing the pole for the 25-lap main event, Kevin lead every lap en route to his first win of the season.
Thursday night, Kevin again set fast time in his group and ran third in his heat race, setting him up with a 14th starting spot in the night's 30-lap main event. Kevin picked his way forward and after a late race restart, blasted into the top three, where he was able to come home with a solid third place finish on night #2.
Friday, Kevin again set fast time in his group and ran third in his heat race for the second night in a row. This put him 15th on the starting grid and just like the previous night, Kevin was able to charge forward into the top five, coming home 5th in the night's 30-lapper.
With three top five finishes to his credit, Kevin was the overall points leader heading into the final on Saturday night, putting his #40 into the top 6 redraw. He redrew 6th and rolled off from the outside of the third row for the 75-lap, $5,000 to win main event. During the main, Kevin ran inside the top five all race long, surviving 9 cautions and several scrapes with the wall. Kevin chased race long leader Mark Whitener for much of the event, pulling along side him several times, but ending up with a very solid second place finish.
Sunday's event at All Tech Raceway in Lake City, FL was rained out.
The team will prep their equipment for 3 nights at the North Florida Speedway in Lake City, FL this coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
